The Akita is quite an amazing  breed. Their history began in the 1600s and their main tasks were guarding royalty and nobility in feudal  Japan . They were also known to have been used for  hunting  wild boar and deer. Needless to say, this 70-130 pound dog is incredibly powerful. 

Very interestingly, the first Akita brought to America was by Helen Keller. The  Japanese  were very fond of her and gave her an Akita puppy as a parting gift after she visited the country. The Akita is known to be one of the most loyal breeds. As they follow you from room to room you will feel as though their entire mission is to protect you.
